To my knowledge, this is the only city in Sonoma County that requires that permission. We, as senior citzens, had an application ready. to file. Our request is for a loan to to have all the windows and glass doors in our home replaced with energy efficient glass. We filed our application, and were told everything was in order. A week later, our application was returned, and we were told we needed to get permission from our lender, Provident Funding. This has led to a nightmare of bureaucracy for us. A few of the issues: -Provident said they wouldn'.t be able to approve this because for the relatively small loan we requested, they would become~the second lien holder to Sonoma County. -After a discussion with. Kath-y Larocane (565-3310), Deputy Sonoma County Counsel, she agreed to talk with Provident' legal department. They said that they would consider it. However they then stated. that because our loan was sold to Freddie Mac, it was now an issue at the. Federal level . -We were told. that, if ou,r mortgage were held by Wells Fargo, we would have no problem because Wells has signed off on allapplications for its mortgage customers. This seems highly discriminatory for all those who :hold mortgages with other lenders. Vllith. the present. situafion, we are not able to proceed with our application. Both my husband and I wish to petition fhe Council to remove this qualification. Thank you for your consideration.lhnpe to speak to this in the. Public Comment at Monday's Council Meeting.
