SUBJECT: Item 6B -First reading.. of Ordinance .Amending, Petaluma Municipal Code
Governing Terms and Duties of the Planning Commission ..-:..
Vice Mayor Barrett-has indicated that at Tuesday's Planning Commission meeting, the
Commission did not vote for or against'the ordinances that were forwarded to them by the City
Council, but instead made a new motion which they voted on. To help the Council in their
discussion and possible action on Item ~6B', listed below are the three motions made by the
Planning Commission on this item:
1. ~ Motion made by Commissioner Barrett to accept the first two ordinances presented in
Attachment 1. Motion failed (received no second).
2. Motion made by Commissioner Burton to reject the-items placed before the Commission
and recommend to the City Council that they not ~be; adopted. Motion was seconded by
Commissioner Barrett, but after discussion, withdrawn by Commissioner Burton.
Motion made by Commissioner Burton and seconded by Commissioner Barrett that
having considered all aspects of the proposed ordinances,. they .cannot be recommended
for adoption because the Commission does not find them. consistent with the required
public necessity convenience and welfare as called for in the proposed findings.
Motion carried 4-1:
Yes: Kathy Miller, Christopher Arras, Spence Burton, Jack Rittenhouse
No: Teresa Barrett.
