Chief Fish responded that there is no listing available to outline the asset seizure funding that constitutes the funds being used for this purchase. The Asset Seizure account is managed by the Finance Department and the current balance (approx. $533,000) is a result of years and years of accumulation from many criminal cases. The types of crimes that typically receive asset seizures on are normally drug related charges that include transportation or sales. The asset seizure money is usually cash or personal property converted to cash that are the proceeds of illegal drug dealing, including marijuana cases. While the vehicle is an important asset in supporting the Avoid the 13 county-wide task force, it is also a standard emergency operations center that will be a citywide asset. The Fire .Department has indicated that the vehicle can be an adjunct to the EOC and an asset as an Incident Command Facility in emergencies.
