SUBJECT: Resolution Amending the Classification and Compensation Plan by Abolishing •
the Classification of Director of General Plan Administration.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution Amending the
Classification and Compensation Plan by Abolishing the Classification of Director of General
Plan Administration.

BACKGROUND
The classification of Director of General Plan Administration was established by Resolution No.
00-187V effective October 16, 2000. The incumbent retired from the position effective July 5,
2008. The classification has not been used since July 5, 2008 and there are no plans to utilize the
classification in the future.
DISCUSSION
Human Resources staff recently reviewed classifications designated in Unit 8 — Department
Directors. The classification of Director of General Plan Administration is no longer needed and
therefore is recommended for abolishment.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS
Abolishing the classification has no financial impact.

RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN
BY ABOLISHING THE CLASSIFICATION OF
DIRECTOR OF GENERAL PLAN ADMINISTRATION
WHEREAS, the City wishes to keep current its Classification and Compensation Plan;
and amendments and or revisions to the Classifications and Compensation Plan are effective
upon approval by the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, the classification of Director of General Plan Administration is hereby
recommended to be abolished, effective with the adoption of this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Petaluma:
I. Approves the amendments to the Classification and Compensation Plan as written
in this Resolution including the amendment in the Competitive Service of the
Personnel System.
2. Takes this action pursuant to Personnel Code 3.04.020 and Personnel Rules and
Regulations (Rule IV- Classification and Rule V— Compensation) and, that the
notice of this action has been properly posted.
3. Abolishes the classification of Director of General Plan Administration.
