AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PET'ALUMA MUNICIPAL CODE
BY AM:EN'DING SECTION 17..20.07.0 BY ADDING
CERTAIN HAZARDOUS MATERIALS REGULATIONS
AND REVISING SECTION 80 OF THE
"UNIFORM FIRE CODE", 1985 EDITION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 17..20.070 of the Petaluma Municipal Code is hereby
amended by adding the following thereto:

Article 80 is hereby amended to read as shown in Exhibit "A"
hereto at pages 1 -

hereby amended to read
as shown in Exhibit
"A" hereto at pages
115 - 133.

at page 141.

amended by deleting and
adding the wording
as shown in Exhibit
"A" at pages 145-153.
Section 2. The follow-ing findings are hereby made in connection with the
adoption of Residential Revision to Uniform Fire Code, pursuant to Health
and Safety Code Section 17958.7:
(1) The. Council of the City of Petaluma does hereby find that
hazardous .materials and substances are widely, used in commerce and
by individuals * in our society, and that -properly controlled and
utilized, such substances and materials can be -beneficial to our overall
well being. However, the City' Council further finds that unknown
quantities ;and qualities of such materials and substances exist which
may- be toxic, corrosive, irritating, sensitizing, flammable or
combustibleand which may cause serious illness or harm to humans,
animals and the environment. The public has a right to expect
regulation of these substances.

(2) The City Council also finds that substantial public and private
cooperation and education is essential for the appropriate
understanding and .control of such substances and materials..
Section 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase or word
of this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional or invalid by
a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity
of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council of the City
of Petaluma hereby declares that it would have passed and adopted this
ordinance and each and all provisions thereof irrespective of the fact that
any one or more of said provisions be declared unconstitutional or invalid.
Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post/publish this
ordinance for the period and in the manner required by the City Charter.
INTRODUCED at a Regular/Regular Adjourned meeting of the City Council
this 28th day of September , 1987.
ADOPTED at a Regular/Regular Adjourned meeting this 1 th day of
October , 1987, by the following vote:
