AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 15.12.090 AND 15.12.100
SECTIONS 15.16.090, 15.16.100; AND
ADDING SECTION 15.16.101 TO THE PETALUMA MUNICIPAL CODE
WATER UTILITY BILLING CHARGES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL of the City of Petaluma as follows:
Section l: Section 15.12.090 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 15.12.090 - Request for discontinuance by consumer - Reconnection
Charges
Any consumer may have his water service discontinued by giving
notice to the water department requesting discontinuance not less than
two days prior to the requested date of discontinuance. Each such
consumer shall pay all water charges up to and including the date of
discontinuance stated in such notice. In any case where such notice
is not given, the consumer shall be required to pay for water service
until two days after the water department has knowledge that the
consumer has vacated the premises or otherwise discontinued water
service. The city shall make a reconnection charge for restoring
water service to any consumer whose water service has been
discontinued at his request. Such charge shall be ten dollars for
reconnection of service during regular working hours and forty dollars
for reconnection of service at any time other than during regular
working hours when the consumer has requested that reconnection be
made at such other time."

Section 2 : Section 15.12.100 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 15.12.100 - Reconnection after discontinuance of service
Whenever any premises have been disconnected from the water
system for any violation of this Chapter, such premises shall not
be reconnected until all delinquent charges have been paid,
together with a reconnection charge of ten dollars for
reconnection made during regular working hours and forty dollars
for service rendered at any other time other than regular working
hours and until credit is established pursuant to Section
15.16.180(B)."
Section 3: Section 15.16.090 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 15.16.090 - When closing balance due city is five dollars or less
Whenever a consumer discontinues water service and the closing
balance due the City by the consumer after all credits and offsets
have been made amounts to five dollars or less, the City may
forgive such closing balances."
Section 4: Section 15.16.100 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 15.16.100 - When balance due consumer is five dollars or less
Whenever a consumer discontinues water service and any credit
deposit as required is applied against their closing balance due,
leaving a refund due the consumer of five dollars or less, then
the City is not required to refund unless specifically requested to
do so by the consumer concerned."
Section 5: Section 15.16.101 is hereby added to read as follows:
"Section 15.16.101 - Returned check fees
Whenever additional fees are incurred for the collection of
returned checks, the consumer shall pay said fees or a minimum
of five dollars . "

Section 6: The City Clerk is hereby directed to post/1hWUM this
ordinance for theperiod and in the manner specified by law.
