44 Robert. Maser, representing the group, Neighbors.for a-Better Petaluma, spoke regarding
45 the property formerly known. as Hillside :Village, located off of'V1Findsor Lane and 1Nestern
46 Avenue, which would be reappearing for approval before the Council soon. The project

1 was successfully defeated;several years ago. The group would appreciate close scrutiny of
2 this. project, which even though scaled :back 'in .density; presented -the same issues as
3 .before. He asked that the Community Development/Plannng~l~epartrnent;give notice to all
4 parties on the list his group had previou-s'ly submitted, of meetings regarding this. project.
5 Regarding the project:adjaeent.tothc' Magnolia Park and: Gossage properties, which would
6 also be up for review soon, he :asked City:Management.to.obta.inthc list of attendees at the
~ May 9th meeting: held. at the `Luchessi Center`and hosted': by they Aguilar :Group; ao that
8 those persons may be similarly notified of City meetings.

1 o Kelly Schultz, East Madison_Street Neighbors; 1;521. E. Madison Street, spoke regardi"ng
11 the traffic problems in her neighborhood.

13 Hank Flum spoke in opposition to gas taxes, ,.noting that the State had :enough~~~surplus
14 funds and that he was opposed to..any new taxes. ~ -

16 William.. R. Phillips, 824 Blossom Court; spoke regarding residential developmentand;U.S.:
1~ water. He had presented a video to the. Council delivered at an earlier date.

19 A Council Member asked Mr. Phillips to provide a copy of the video to PCA (Petaluma

24 Vice Mayor Torlatt advised that she. spent Saturday in fhe dur,~k tank:at a show hosted by
2 5 the Police Department. She wanted the Tree Advisory'Commiiaeecopicd on a;letter from,a
2 6 citizen distributed to the Council about a variety~of trees compatible in Petaluma and asked
2 ~ the City Clerk to do so.

29 Council Member Keller thanked the project management team and. all involved with the
3 o successf.ial completion of°renovatons of the `D' Street Bridge Renovation, completed ahead
31 of's~hedule on August 17tH

34 Frontier), Thor Larsen; city employees Sue Lackie and Mich'aeI Evert-for their outstanding

3~8 compliments from the community,about their work with the~floi~d project and their respect

44 Council Member Cader-Thompson stated there were pedestrian safety "hazards on

1 who would not allow pedestrians, in~ross-walks,. to cross the street'safely. Regarding the
2 Washington/McDowell Intersection Improvements, she asked that City Management
3 provide Public Facilities and Services Director Rick Skladzien with background information
4 and recommendations with a request for his input and/qr recommendations. She also
5 wanted to know how Phase II of that project would tie in'with the Hillside Village project.

7 August 22, 2000 marked her twenty-fourth wedding anniversary. She also asked that City
8 Management obtain the mailing list for homeowners attending recent meetings with the
9 developer in the Victoria, Magnolia and Hillside subdivisions so they could be notified when
_ 1o issues concerning those subdivisions were scheduled to come before Council.

2 2 Mayor Thompson read a proclamation for Women's Equality Day, and presented it to Beth
. 23 Grimes, Co-founder, Men and 1Nomen for~Race and Gender Equality. Ms. Grimes spoke
2'4 in favor of, equality 'and' read a message she gave to the Council in writing.

Vice Mayor Torliatt asked Council's indulgence while she read a tatement'prepa_red~ ~.
(and offered for distribution to the pub'lic), that included a request that the .Council ~ _
direct City Management to send a letter to the S.C:VV.A. requesting the: City "of ~ "
Petaluma be-given ninety days to make a decision about Amendment 11. The;..
ninety days would allow time for a forum by all or a number of, the S:C`.1N.A.
contractors and County elected officials.
Scott Vour, 1557 Mauro: Pietro; supported reconsideration of the.Councl's adoption
of Resolutions, 142-A and ;B. He provided Council. with the text of his comments.
Vince Landoff„ 12 Cordelia Drive, supported. 'th'e :motion to ~reconsitler -and
expressed his.. opinions about the. City supplying water to Marine
Andy Rodgers, 115-1 pebble. Hill -Road, explained h-is existing, relationship with the
S,CW.A. and many of its contractors; he supported reconsideration of the

20 update of the Marin pipeline project; advised fh"e Council of an Environmental
21 Summit comprised. of 22 groups throughout ;Marin,. Sonoma, and San Francisco.,
22 and addressed a number of environmental concerns she had.
