HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2012-135 N.C.S. 09/10/2012 Resolution No. 2012-135 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California APPOINTING A REPRESENTATIVE AND AN ALTERNATE TO AN AD-HOC COMMITTEE TO REVIEW THE SONOMA COUNTY-LIBRARY JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WHEREAS, the Joint Powers Agreement for Consolidation of Public Library Facilities Among Cities in the County of Sonoma and the County-Wide Provision of Library Services By the Sonoma County Library (Library JPA) was executed in 1975 between the County of Sonoma and the cities of Healdsburg, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, and Sonoma; and, WHEREAS, the Library JPA consolidated library facilities and services on a county- wide basis under the governance of an independent Library Commission; and, WHEREAS, the Library JPA has not been amended since 1975, and as such has not evolved with current revenue structures, realities, the way local governments deliver services, and community expectations: and, WHEREAS, interest has been shown by the County and member Cities in revising the Library JPA; and, WHEREAS, at its August 9, 2012 meeting the Board of Directors of the Mayor's and Councilmember's Association directed that an ad-hoc committee be formed to review and recommend revisions to the Library JPA, and that the Committee should include one representative and an alternate from each City, the County, and the Library Commission; and, WHEREAS, the Board further asked that each agency appoint a representative and an alternate to participate in that review. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Petaluma hereby appoints Teresa Barrett as its Representative, and Scott Brodhun as its alternate to the Ad-hoc Sonoma County Library JPA Committee.
