9 The City Council went into Closed Session for: Conference with legal counsel on anticipated
io litigation pursuant to Government Code §54956.9(b) 1 potential case; and, Conference with
ii legal counsel on existing litigation pursuant to Government Code §54956.9(a) Press
i2 Democrat v. City ofPetaluma 35 et al, Sonoma County Superior Court Case 216071.
i3 Report out of closed session: There was nothing to report on anticipated litigation. On
ia e~cisting litigation the City Council discussed the Press Democrat motion for reconsideration
is and authorized the City Attorney to vigorously oppose the motion and unanimously felt that
i6 it was not the time to release the requested documents and information. The decision was
i~ unarumous with MS and DK absent.

~9 Professional Citv Manager Selection Committee - There was a motion to establish a
2o Professional City Manager Selection Committee to interview, deliberate and make
zi recommendations regarding the City Manager candidates. Bert VVills 'Town Administrator of
~2 Windsor, was appointed and selected Chairman. The other two members appointed to the
23 Professional City Manager Selection Committee are Doug I~awson, City Manager of Mill
Za Valley and Michael Oliver, Interim City Manager of Citrus Heights.

zi will relay the recommendations to the City Council in closed session.

z6 Attornev General Decision The California Attorney General was faced with the question of
a~ a school district's legislative body meeting in closed session to deliberate and decide on a
~a Superintendent. 'The Attorney General opined they could meet in closed session. T'his
z9 decision is the result of a question posed by the Press Democrat about the Petaluma School
3o I~istrict's actions.
s~ The City Attorney noted the City Council acted this evening to establish the committees as
sz legislative committees.
