2012 WINE COUNTRY ROWING CLASSIC-OCTOBER 7,2012
WHEREAS,the North Bay Rowing Club was formed to further the sport of rowing by
training youth and adults, and hosting and attending amateur rowing races (regattas) and
excursions, and provides and maintains boats and related equipment, storage facilities, and docks
located at 625 Second Street; and
WHEREAS, the North Bay Rowing Club was incorporated in 1984 as a non-profit
organization, and welcomes and nurtures all interested rowers regardless of their physical ability
or financial situation, and by sharing facilities and docks, also supports other organizations such
as the Sonoma State University Rowing Club and the He'e Nalu Paddling Club; and
WHEREAS, the North Bay Rowing Club offers an expanding Juniors Program that
offers high school students a safe and healthy alternative for after-school activity, where students
can enjoy challenging physical activity, camaraderie, and racing opportunities from learning a
sport that builds confidence, requires focus, discipline, and teamwork; and
WHEREAS, on the first Sunday of each October, the North Bay Rowing Club hosts the
WINE COUNTRY ROWING CLASSIC regatta at the Petaluma Marina where everyone can
watch exciting racing from the beautiful banks of the Petaluma River at Alman Marsh and
Shollenberger Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I,Mayor David Glass, along with the
members of the Petaluma City Council, do hereby wish the North Bay Rowing Club success in
its annual WINE COUNTRY ROWING CLASSIC to be held October 7, 2012, and thanks the
North Bay Rowing Club for their dedication and hard work to bring a high-level athletic event to
Petaluma for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.
