ADOBE HOUSE-CELEBRATING SERVICE TO COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, Adobe House was built in 1996 as a labor of love when the original owner's
mother was diagnosed with dementia, and it was designed to give residents suffering from
memory impairment the freedom to safely roam independently and enjoy the outdoors while
being monitored by caregivers; and
WHEREAS, the staff at Adobe House has been chosen for their compassion and desire
to serve Petaluma's senior population, and they take great pride in knowing that each of them has
the honor of making a difference in the lives of others on a daily basis; and
WHEREAS, as research continues to develop, Adobe House is committed to adapting
new therapies and programs to ensure the residents enjoy the highest possible quality of life, with
the goal to join families and the community together to support and educate them on the various
stages of the disease, how to care for loved ones afflicted by it, and how to cope with the
emotional effects it has on families; and
WHEREAS, Adobe House offers free ongoing support groups and educational programs
for families and the community to help guide them through the journey of coping with the
devastating effects of the disease as statistics show that 1 in 7 people will be affected by
Alzheimer's disease or some form of dementia; and
WHEREAS, as our population ages and the demand for quality care increases, Adobe
House remains committed to serving the City of Petaluma and its residents. We are proud to be
the only assisted living community dedicated to caring for only those residents with memory
impairments since 1996.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Mayor David Glass, along with the
members of the City Council, do hereby thank and commend the staff at Adobe House for their
service to the community and wish them many more years of continued success.
