5 PLEDGE OF' ALLEGIANCE
6 Dick Sharke from the McDowell Drug Task Force led the .Pledge of Allegiance.
7 PUBLIC COMMENT
s Bill Brotman asked the City Council to pass another Persian Gulf resolution, but this
9 time it should be in support of the men and women who are in the Persian Gulf
io area on behalf of the United Nations and the United .States.
11 Peter Joerges, 4th Street, spoke about the transients' activities in Walnut and
12 Wickersham Parks.
13 Ray Mazza, 415 E Street, asked the result. of the City committee meeting with the
I4 transients in Walnut Park.
15 CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS
16 Michael Davis -having lived: through Viet Nam and having seen people spit in the
17 face of the military men, he believes the City should speak in support of the
is men. One way to express the support is to put yellow ribbons out showing we
19 support the -military persons. We should do something as a city to show
20 support of the troops..
21 Michael Davis -has been advised the County of Marin, who fought very hard against
22 the Warm 'Springs Dam, is now willing to take advantage of the water storage
23 facility they opposed so vigorously.
24 Michael Davis -construction in connection with the project located at Ellis Street and
25 East Washington has disrupted east/west traffic to a major extent. He
26 suggested the: staff should consider restricting work on such major streets to low
27 volume traffic times of day.
28 Michael Davis -Street Light KS on Acadia is out.
29 Nancy Read -likes the new water bill format.
3o Lynn Woolsey -agrees with the yellow ribbons (see .Michael Davis comment).
3z Lynn Woolsey -the. Peace Initiative :never meant she didn't support. the men and
32 women serving in the military in the Persian Gulf. She hopes the Police and
33 Fire are looking at ~who might be called to active duty and suggested staff
34 should make contingency plans for that possible temporary reduction of
35 employees.
36 Lynn Woolsey -asked staff to look at the most northerly road which will exit the
37 McNear Hill project, because it appears to be a potentially very dangerous
38 traffic problem.
39` ~ - PRESENTATIONS
4o On behalf of the ~ McDowell Drug Task Force, Dick Sharke presented the City's
41 DARE program with a check for $2.000.
