Several de artmerits as well as several P 20 commissions and committees assert various degrees; of control over the management 21 of trees. An ad hoc committee (2 .:Planning Commissioners;. 1. Recreation 22 Commissioner, 1:SPARG member,. and l .public citizen) was formed some time ago to 23 work. with the Planning Department to generate a suggested.. program for tree 24 preservation. He referred specifically to; the _Auto Mall. and the Factory Outlet which will generate sales tax revenue for the City'of Petaluma. Vasco Brazil, 4551~Lakeville Highway - he requested that the City support his request of the Southern. Sonoma County Resource Conservation District to do a comprehensive cost-effective evaluation of the .Petaluma effluent disposal project, which h'e suggested could be done under the "extra work" clause of the City's .agreement with the Southern Sonoma Resource Conservation District. 11 CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS 12 Michael Davis -Santa Rosa is pursuing a spay clinic. If cats were licensed, the license 13 fee could be used for feline neutering and spaying in Petaluma. 14 Brian Sobel - He noted that Bonnie Gaebler was awarded "Employee of the Quarter". 15 Bonnie Nelson -She supported SB-63 (Kopp) which would amend the Brown Act to i6 include Council subcommittees; however, a letter was sent to the Legislature stating 17 the City Council was opposed to the legislation.. Bonnie had not been consulted on is that letter and she asked for input on future correspondence that will be written "on 19 behalf of the Council". 20 Regarding the "hit and run" dog. defecation. on public areas such as play fields, 21 she asked the public for suggestions to control the problem. 22 Vice Mayor Lynn Woolsey -Regarding dogs in parks, she asked the pet owners to 23 clean up after their animals.. 24 Regarding tree experimentation with eucalyptus by EOS, she asked why we are 25 experimenting-with trees that are not in favor. 26 ~ PROCLAIVIATIONS 27 The following proclamations were read: 28 Red Ribbon Week October 19-27 -Dick Sharke and other representatives of the 29 McDowell Drug Task. Prior to the vote on this 40 ordinance, the City Attorney reviewed the various property transactions that created 41 McNear Park and subsequently increased the Boys and Girls Club holdings adjacent 42 to the park. Housing. The presentations painted a very positive icture of -the state of the art of manufactured housing. Staff and consultants vis~ ed an manufacturing :facility and reported'. the product appears to be of high quality and constructed to the.. specifications of the. manufactured home code equivalent to the Uniform ,Building Code. Slides of homes in a manufactured housing subdivision were shown. The cost comparison. between stick built housing and manufactured housing was' reported to reflects an 18% to 20% cost saving: This demonstration project will be; constructed after the final map approvals for the McBail subdivision (Gray property).
