COUNCIL COMMENTS
Larry Tencer - Residents of the Petaluma Estates Mobile Home Park have
complained that the towing company which utilizes an adjacent lot are waking the
mobile home park residents during the night as cars are towed and stowed.
Vice Mayor Sobel - There will be a meeting in the City Council Chambers on
Tuesday, April 17, for the public to question Supervisor Harberson and Vice Mayor
Sobel regarding the U. S. Highway 101 Transportation Corridor and the proposed
sales tax measure that is scheduled to be before the Sonoma County voters in
November. It was suggested the City place an ad on the front page of the Argus
Courier to notify the public of that meeting.
COUNTY OPEN SPACE DISTRICT
Supervisor Harberson addressed the City Council regarding the proposal to create an
open space district in the County. State Legislation proposed by Assemblyman Filante
(AB -3630) would authorize creation of such a district. He reported that there have
been offers of land dedication for open space.
There would be a choice of one of three authorized methods of funding such open
space. They are a transactions and use tax, an excise tax, or a transient occupancy tax.
If a transient occupancy tax is chosen as the funding vehicle, the City Council agreed
that 2% should be the maximum rate. However, there was no City Council agreement
on the method of funding an open space district.
CLOSED SESSION
From 4:00 to 4:25 p.m. the Council sat in Closed Session pursuant to Government
Code § 54956.9(b)1.
