APPROVING THE CONCEPTUAL MASTER PLAN
FOR THE GATTI PARK PROJECT
AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO PREPARE PLANS
AND SPECIFICATIONS AND PUT THE PROJECT
OUT TO BID DURING THE WINTER MONTHS
WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma, per the Ely-Specific Plan, is prepared to construct a
7-acre park on City-owned land to meet the needs of the Petaluma community; and,
WHEREAS, the City has hired the firm of Gretchen Stranzl McCann Landscape
Architects to design the proposed park; and,
WHEREAS, the Petaluma community has participated in public meetings, providing
input regarding features they would like to see in the proposed park; and,
WHEREAS, project architects have prepared a conceptual design that includes input
received from the community, the Recreation, Music and Parks Commission, and staff; and,
WHEREAS, the project has been found to be exempt from the provisions of the
California Environmental Quality Act based on the policies and provisions of the City Council
adopted Corona-Ely Specific Plan, the topography and location of the site, and the City-
conducted traffic analysis, which found no significant impacts to circulation or levels of service.
Per Article 5: Section 150561, a Notice of Exemption was filed; and,
WHEREAS, the Recreation, Music and Parks Commission recommends to the City
Council that they approve the Conceptual Master Plan for the Gatti Park Project and authorize
staff to prepare plans and specifications and place the project out to bid during the winter
months.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Petaluma City Council does
hereby approve the conceptual Master Plan for the Gatti Park Project, and authorizes staff to
prepare plans and specifications and place the project out to bid as soon as possible, with
construction to take place in the spring of 2004.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
